During his time as President at Thermo King Corporation—then a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand—Ted Fick drove the effort to develop and launch the Tripac auxiliary power unit. The innovative new product delivered results for Thermo King and Ingersoll Rand right out of the gate, producing more than $92 million in first-year sales alone. Additionally, Fick shifted the company’s manufacturing from “build-to-stock” to “build-to-order,” which reduced inventory and greatly improved cashflow.
